![]() Project Roots focuses on ways to educate the community about growing their own food through various educational programs. She co-founded the nonprofit with Arizona native Dionne Washington in late 2019 and a family member, a cousin of Pettis, Jessica Diamond. Pettis founded Phoenix-based nonprofit Project Roots AZ, whose mission is to assist those in need with food insecurity and necessities across the greater Phoenix area. Following her on-court career, Pettis continued in the WNBA as an assistant coach for the Mercury, winning two WNBA Championships in 20. They enjoy spending time with their 7-year-old corgi named Henry and orange tabby, Oliver.īridgit Pettis spent six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury as a player (1997-2001, 2006) and scored the very first points in franchise history in the team’s inaugural season in 1997. She and her wife, Vanessa, were proud Phoenix Mercury season ticket holders last season, where they continue to frequent games at the Footprint Center in support of women’s sports. Following graduation, Noel played semi-professional soccer with SC del Sol. She also had several stints with the U-20 Women’s Mexican National Team from her sophomore year in high school through her junior year at NAU. and raised in Anaheim, Guevara attended Northern Arizona University on a Division 1 soccer scholarship, where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in Public Relations. Noel has been featured in numerous media outlets like 12 News, MLB.com, SB Nation OutSports for community outreach events and has been awarded for her work in the LGBTQ+ community by such as Phoenix Pride, Compete Sports Diversity, and One Community.īorn in Orange, Calif. Most notably, Guevara coordinated the team’s first-ever Pride Night in 2017, which sold 400 tickets in a first-year program and continues to play a lead role in the D-backs Pride efforts while serving as the co-lead of the LGBTQ+ Team Player Resource Group. The D-backs and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation projects and programs are improving our communities and creating opportunities for our most at-risk children and families. ![]() Since the franchise’s inception, the D-backs and Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation have given back more than $80 million to the community. She works relentlessly to be a positive role model to inspire others to be good humans and do more for the community at large. Noel is committed to creating better pathways for youth and underrepresented communities through sport.
