I’ve seen it in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle, and I’d go again in a heartbeat because the story embraces the full breadth of human emotions-rejection, acceptance, love, loneliness, betrayal, and redemption-all aptly summarized in one of the plays best lyrics sung by Elphaba-the wicked witch-In her show-stopping, "Defying Gravity." She declares, “Everyone deserves the chance to fly.” And this "Wicked" doesn’t just fly, it soars. Personally, I’m a glutton for "Wicked." And who wouldn’t want to feast as often as possible on this award-winning musical? A winner of Tonys, Grammys, Drama Desk Awards, and even the coveted British Olivier. And now all that creativity and imagination is on stage at Seattle’s gorgeous musical venue, The Paramount. However, we enjoyed the show there and did not need to use binoculars. We ended up having to park kind of far and walk to theater. Went here during the holidays to see a magical cirque Christmas. Ninety-five years later, novelist Gregory Maguire re-imagined and retold Baum’s tale in his novel "Wicked." And then in 2003 Stephen Schwartz combined his awesome musical talents with the imaginative book by Winnie Holzman, and "Wicked, the musical," was born.
